The new development could be open as soon as the new year. Peck said he expects to hire 60 to 90 new employees at his McDonald's, and Duncan anticipates adding as many as 25 new employees at the new gas station.
The gas station side will also include E85 fuel, which is a blend of 85 percent ethanol made from corn and 15 percent gasoline that emits less smog-producing pollutants and costs less per gallon than gasoline. Illinois corn grower Greg Guenther said this would be the first gas station of its kind in the Shiloh and Belleville areas.
