hej folks,

in Germany a lot of people recorded that their cars fuel consumption is depending on the stations / companies.
I have recorded it, too.

our specutalion is that the different companies offer different E85, means that some offer an E85 with a higher part of ethanol than 85%.
This experience is according to the starting problems. Now its getting colder at night, ~ +5°.

One reason for selling an higher ethanol E85 is that for this E85 the range between buying and selling it is higher. :?:

are similar problems known in Sweden or other countries, too??

To me it would be nice that the ethanol part is higher than 85% at least during summer, since 15% gasoline seems too much to prevent starting problems during summer. Therefor I would like to know which companies that deliver E85 with more than 85% ethanol, since the more ethanol the better climate spare.

yeah, the best solution would be to offer pure ethanol E100, but there is the EU regulation for E85

i don't know which companies in Sweden sell an E85 higher than 85. in Germany its a matter of "luck" if you get a station with an higher E85....the more ethanol, the more fuel consumption :?

yesterday i've got new information from a guy who works for an E85 producing company.

he told me that imported ethanol often has more water than ethanol from local producers.

Second problem , especially in Sveden, seems that added substance to denaturate the ethanol.
Here in Germany only petrol is added to do so, whats about Sveden?

Well here in Sweden the most of sold E85 is manufactured by Sekab. They used to have their specifiction at there homepage but of some reason un none to me, they have withdrawn that.

But as far as I remember is was something like this.

It consists of ethanol (86 mass%), gasoline (11.6 mass%), MTBE (2 mass%), and isobutanol (0.4 mass%).

I dont now if EU has reached to an CEN standard yet.

There was a first draft in march of 2006.

There is/was an actiongroup witch goal was to form an EN standard for ethanol.
They where/are formed under working group 21 under CEN TC19 (CEN TC19/WG21)

So far I think the closest to an standard is the CWA 15294.
You can get a glimps of that on this PDF

There is a standard for ethanol for lowblending purpose ( max 5% in petrol) EN 15376
Read more here and here, this PDF is has a lot of interesting information.
